New Dubai wonder – Atlantis The Palm Hotel
The $1.5-billion resort Atlantis, The Palm, opened its doors on Wednesday, september 24. to guests eager to experience its luxury surroundings. The pearl in Palm Jumeirah’s crescent, developed by Kerzner International Holdings Limited and Istithmar, will hold a spectacular gala ceremony, with a performance by pop diva Kylie Minogue on November 20.
Some of the £13,000 per night suites come complete with a gold-leaf 18-seat dining table and others a glass wall into a giant fish tank holding some 65,000 fish, stingrays and other sea creatures. The decadent Dubai hotel even has an indoor ski-slope and has flown in two dozen bottlenose dolphins to entertain guests.
It is all part of the £800million Atlantis Hotel the latest word in Gulf excess which will also be home to the world's tallest skyscraper. The 113-acre resort on an artificial island off the Persian Gulf coast is modeled on a sister resort in the Bahamas, is on ocean-themed family entertainment.
Atlantis’ signature Bridge Suite - the most luxurious in the resort – measures in at 924 square metres and boasts floor to ceiling views of all of Dubai. One night’s stay in The Bridge Suite costs $25,000 per night. The resort’s two Lost Chambers Suites, whose bedroom and master bathroom windows look directly into the Ambassador Lagoon – stretch over three floors.
Atlantis, The Palm is home to over 65,000 marine animals including Anchovy, Baby Stingrays, Arapaima, Moon Jellies, Brown Sea Nettles, Moray Eels, Giant Cuttlefish, Lobsters, Batfish, Snapper, Hammour Cobia, Golden Trevalles, Piranha, Lionfish, Anemones, Giant Grouper, Blue Damsels, Manta Ray, and Sunfish. Atlantis, The Palm’s current footprint on The Palm Jumeirah is 46 hectares or the size of 64 Wembley football pitches. This includes 1.4 kilometres of beachfront.
